IM BACK, BABY!!

After a month hiatus, I am returning to the blogosphere. I traveled the middle east and came back to a work life filled with chaos. Blogging unfortunately had to take a backseat until I could recharge the batteries. However, life moves on and you gotta give the people what they want. So sit back, read and enjoy my random thoughts once again dear readers. After all, its all for you (the 20 of you who loyally check the site).

Rest and Relaxation....with a Twist

I return, fingers vigourously typing after my time away, from an incredibly relaxing vacation to Cabo San Lucas. After diligent research I found a cheap and highly rated hotel from Trip Advisor on a private beach that turned out to be a little oasis of paradise. It was no resort by any means, the hotel was small and the beach chairs limited. But the ocean view from our room, the guacamole from the hotel restaurant, and the secluded spot secured by the fam every morning to lie on our chairs in peace was priceless. I am sad to say that while the majority of A-List stars made their way to Cabo for New Years, somehow my sister and I managed to miss even one celeb sighting during our stay. We patroled the marina bars and retaurants at night for even a glimpse of a blonde strand as it made its way into a VIP booth at Nowhere Bar (ahem, Cameron Diaz, where were you??), but no such luck.

Despite our lack of A-List run-ins, I managed to find other ways to entertain myself. First and foremost, working on my golden tan. Second, the squeal of delight at finally coming upon the Missoni-designed San Pelligrino bottle (even the smallest bit of shallow fashion references make me happy).

And lastly, scouring multiple silver shops for a mix of bangles - music to my ears to remind me of my stay in Mexico.

Suddenly, my Dad gained an adventurous streak while on vacation and wanted us to go ziplining. I was intrigued and though my sister wasn't immediately thrilled at the idea, we all agreed to forgo a couple of hours in the sun for the activity. Of course we had the time of our lives, zipping down at high speeds guided by shifty Mexican-regulation safety gear under the watch of locals Miguel, Miguelito, and RRRRandall (roll your r's with me people). I decided to zip a few turns upside down on the line, jumped off the bungie swing at full speed, and finished with a newfound sense of invinsibility. Our leaders were a couple of jokesters, and as I denounced fear walking with swagger, a tarantula was discovered among the sands near our van and Miguel bent down for a closer look (and to pick it up, naturally). Now, as brave as I am, I don't have a death wish or a desire to feel their furry legs on my skin. As I ran from the tarantula, it was discovered to be dead, but it was too late for I had already clotheslined myself on the low zipline for a lasting welt on my face, leaving my sister with the satisfying image of the crash to hold over my head for a lifetime.

Does the Grinch Loathe New Years Too?

New Years is not an actual holiday, not by a long shot. I generally despise this non-holiday and try to boycott when I can. No, its not the lack of man friend to smooch at midnight that has me all bitter. It doesn't help matters when I kiss my own hand at the stroke of midnight, but its not the root of my problem. What I really loathe is the expectation for something awesome to happen. An amazing party to be the most fun, worth all the money, worthy of a great outfit, equaling a steamy makeout session, and celebrate all night. When the majority or none of the above actually happen, the let down is physical and hurts for days. I generally refuse to waste my time, but this year when my seemingly awesome and low key plans fell through, I was suckered into purchasing an expensive ticket and coordinating an outfit. I am keeping expectations low, and thankful I am close enough to walk home if need be. Not to bring everyone down, I'm sure you will all have a lovely night. You just now know exactly where I stand on this night for future reference. Happy New Year!

My verbal outburst is similar to Harry....before he met Sally.

Just like in Someone Like You, this could have been my night.
I feel your pain Ashley Judd

Hope everyone is bedecked in bling like Smith and Samantha tonight.
Enjoy your night and be safe!

Is 30 Rock My Crystal Ball to the Future?

Sometimes when I watch 30 Rock I have this irrational fear that I am turning into Liz Lemon. I hear too many similarities to my real life in her one liners that freak me out and have me convinced I'll be 40, alone, eating cheese and passing gas on my couch forever. Seriously. The quotes below are the ones that truly stand out....

Liz: I don't cook very much.
Jack: Sure... I gotcha. New York, third-wave feminist, college-educated, single and pretending to be happy about it, over-scheduled, undersexed, you buy any magazine that says "healthy body image" on the cover, and every two years you take up knitting for ... a week.

Guy: Excuse me, is this seat taken?
Liz: [sighs] Really dude? I got to move my coat? There are like 4 empty seats over there - can't you just be cool?
[guy leaves]
Jenna: That guy wanted to buy you a drink!
Liz: Really? But I already have a drink... do you think he'd buy me mozzarella sticks?

Liz: I'm 37, please don't make me go to Brooklyn.
Jaime: I'm 20.
Liz: Oh boy. This just went from a senior dating a freshman to Mary Kay Letourneau and Vili Fualaau.
Jaime: Are those friends of yours?

Liz: I believe that all anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich.
Jack: How surprising that your world view is food-based.

Liz: You can do some serious subway flirting before you realize the guy is homeless.

Liz: Don't drag my best friend, TV, into this.

Nancy Donovan: Come on Liz, every man in this room is single. Who do you want to meet?
Liz: (long exhale)...Nobody. I mean that guy has a beard, who knows what's under there. Tatoo guy, too permiscuous. T-shirt tucked into jeans (pulls thumb down and makes fart noise). Oh that guy just looks like he'd be mean to me (refering to guy talking emphatically into cell phone).
Nancy Donovan: God Liz, you're so negative!

Liz: I want someone who will be monogamous and nice to his mother. I want someone who likes musicals, but knows to just shut his mouth when I'm watching Lost. And I want someone who thinks being really into cars is lame, and strip clubs are gross. I want someone who will actually empty the dishwasher instead of just taking out forks as needed, like I do.

Finally, An Outlet For All My Obsessions!

As is apparent to anyone who knows me, I am addicted to the internet. I spend hours upon hours scouring the web for constant entertainment - celebrity news, online shopping, facebook, blah blah blah. Some of you may call it a waste of time, I call it my life line. So when a few good friends decided to create a blog for random musings, I decided to jump on the band wagon. This website is dedicated to all my favorite material things and frivolous topics. I plan on posting about celebrity outfits and street style pics (basically anything to help me remember outfits I want to copy), obessions of the moment, online coupons, commentary on all my fav pop culture news, funny/awkward stories from my life (because there are A LOT) and any other topics my superficial heart desires.

Hope y'all enjoy reading!
